How It All Started

An inaugural meeting was held in Kuching on the 15th September 2018 to brainstorm ways for Malaysia CSC and ELD alumni to remain connected, engaged and positively impact industry, government and civil society in Malaysia. The session led to the charter of CALM with the Registrar of Society in Malaysia later in the year 2018 and was officially launched by Her Excellency Julia Bentley in September 2018 at the Canadian High Commissioner's Official Residence. The charter of CALM received the support of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Princess Anne.

CALM & the CSC

The first of the HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's Commonwealth Study Conferences (CSC) took place in 1956. The success of the first event, and the enthusiasm of its alumni for others to benefit from the experience led to conferences being held in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and Malaysia. The CSC were succeeded by The Duke of Edinburgh's Emerging Leaders' Dialogues (ELD), held in the Pacific, the Caribbean, Malaysia and Canada since 2006. In the UK. the CSC Leaders Conferences have been held since 2013.
